Charlotte Gurr, digital art editor at The Pharmaceutical Journal, has received the award for ‘Outstanding piece of digital art and design’ at the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) Talent Awards, held on 13 May 2026 in central London.
Gurr won the award for her artwork on ‘How safe are GLP-1s?‘, an interactive feature written by senior features editor Siobhan Chan, which looked into the unwanted side effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists.
The judges described her work as “a masterclass in purposeful digital design”.
“Charlotte Gurr has turned a medicines safety investigation into a fully interactive experience where the concept, the craft and the journalism are inseparable. Proof that outstanding digital art belongs in specialist publishing too,” they added.
The Pharmaceutical Journal team were also shortlisted for ‘Best subbing/production team’ (Sheralyn Bone, Hannah Krol, Devon Marshall, Charlotte Gurr) and ‘Best podcast — B2B’ (Alex Clabburn, Caitlin Killen, Katherine Sole, Dawn Connelly, Geoff Marsh).
At the 2024 awards, the journal won the Best podcast — B2B award and, in 2023, former senior data journalist Julia Robinson was named Best news writer.
