A UHI Inverness art lecturer has been offered the chnace to represent the best of Scottish contemporary art at a prestigious London exhibition.
Internationally renowned artist Frank To, whose work will be on display at the Exhibition of Scottish Artists at the Stafford Gallery later this month, shared his delight for the achievement — which came after a sell-out round at recent exhibitions at the Royal Ulster Academy in Belfast and the Bath Society of Artists.
He has also been unconditionally accepted in the Society of Graphic Fine Art 105th Annual Exhibition, representing the best of Scottish contemporary in drawing

He said: “For me, I have to keep pushing the limits of my work. Personally, it’s the only way I can really hone and better my practical skills which is now more important in this AI generated environment. It is important that I don’t stop innovating in my art. That is what being an artist is about. To keep pushing and never be too comfortable.”
“I am both surprised and honoured of the recent successes of my recent exhibitions. To even have sold all works especially in London is rare these days.
“I’m hoping by exhibiting in London at both the Stafford Gallery and the Society of Graphic Fine Art in London I will be representing the best of Scottish contemporary art.“
Mr To’s gunpowder artwork has garnered him praise from critics and high-profile collectors such as actor Sir Patrick Stewart, of Star Trek fame, and New York-based Michel Witmer, who hangs To’s paintings alongside those of Picasso, Dine and Warhol.
