You’ll likely never spot him in the flesh, but fans of enigmatic street artist Banksy will have the opportunity to see more than 200 of his works up close when the largest exhibition of its kind arrives in Perth this week.
Presented as The Art of Banksy: “Without Limits”, the unique exhibition will unveil the British talent’s unique street etchings in a custom-built gallery at Northbridge Centre from May 29.
Known for his impressive and often politically driven works, the elusive figure’s exhibition features 95 certified originals, along with murals, prints, sculptures, experiential areas, and video mapping installations.
Headline artefacts include “Dismaland” installations from Banksy’s 2015 pop-up Besumement Park, and his famous “Phone Booth” sculpture.
“We are incredibly excited to launch this museum-quality experience to Perth, following its successful runs in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne,” Kemal Gurkaynak, Managing Director of Muse Marketing and Entertainment said.
“Banksy’s work unites people with ideas and values that can change the world for the better, and through The Art of Banksy: Without Limits, our mission is to present the truth about his art and to carry his powerful message into the world.”
After touring Europe, the US, South America, Asia, and Australia’s east coast, more than 2.5 million people have laid eyes on Banksy’s transcendent creations ahead of its Perth arrival.
Leaving his mark predominantly across the UK and Europe, the international man of mystery has even crafted apparel for the likes of British rapper Stormzy in the form of a bespoke vest emblazoned with the Union Jack.
“I made a customised stab-proof vest and thought – who could possibly wear this? Stormzy at Glastonbury,” Banksy wrote to Instagram in 2019.
Tickets to the Perth exhibition are priced from $37.00.
