Christie’s London Summer Season: A Celebration of Art and Creativity

Christie’s is delighted to present its Post-War to Present sales this June, a central highlight of its London Summer Season  –  a vibrant programme of auctions, exhibitions, and cultural partnerships celebrating the city’s dynamism and artistic legacy. Running from June to August, this season gathers an exciting mix of established and emerging talent across live and online platforms.

The highly anticipated Post-War to Present auction will feature an exceptional selection of sought-after works that define the post-war era while showcasing contemporary artistic voices shaping today’s cultural landscape. The live auction takes place on 26 June 2025 at 1pm, while Post-War to Present: Online will be open for bidding from 17 June to 1 July 2025 via christies.com.

Among the highlights of this season’s auctions and exhibitions are:

• 75 Years of New Contemporaries (19-24 June): A landmark selling exhibition presented by Christie’s Private Sales in partnership with New Contemporaries, supporting early career artists.
• Modern British Art: A Selling Exhibition (16-24 June): Featuring masterpieces by leading British artists, including works by Henry Moore, Dame Barbara Hepworth, Frank Auerbach, and L.S. Lowry.
• Classic Week: A journey through artistic excellence, from antiquity to the present day, featuring an exceptional Canaletto painting once owned by Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole.
• Marwan: A Soul in Exile (16 July – 22 August): Christie’s third summer Arab art exhibition, spotlighting the influential artist Marwan.

The Post-War to Present live sale will include significant works such as:

• Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, 8pm Zaragoza (2011) (Estimate: £500,000-700,000)
• Victor Man, The Chandler (2013) (Estimate: £300,000-500,000)
• KAWS, GONE (2020) (Estimate: £500,000-700,000)
• Cecily Brown, Untitled (2004) (Estimate: £300,000-500,000)
• David Hockney, The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 (twenty eleven) – 4 May (2011) (Estimate: £180,000-250,000)

Meanwhile, the Post-War to Present: Online sale will feature a diverse selection of works with estimates ranging from £800 to £70,000, including Brotherhood (2013) by Gilbert & George and Untitled by Robert Rauschenberg (1997).

Further enriching the season’s events, Christie’s is collaborating with Mothers2Mothers UK and Camden Arts Centre, auctioning select lots in support of these charities.

An exhibition of Post-War to Present will be held at Christie’s King Street from 19 to 24 June, with select highlights remaining on display on 25 and 26 June.
