From April 5 – 27, 2025, art lovers, collectors and the public in the United Kingdom would be enthralled with breathtaking creativity on display as ‘The Torn Tapestry’, a solo exhibition by Chinze Ojobo, a Nigerian-born award-winning visual artist, opens in London.
The exhibition’s official opening will take place on April 5-6, 2025, at The Thames-Side Studios, Lounge, Unit O, Harrington Way, Warspite Road, Royal Borough of Greenwich, London, SE18 5 NR.
Following its title, the exhibition advocates for global peace over war, while emphasizing that the effects of conflict could last for centuries.
In “The Torn Tapestry,” Chinze utilizes worn and distressed materials to symbolize the emotional and physical scars left by violence. Each piece serves as a poignant representation of trauma and resilience, weaving together narratives that emphasize survival and hope.
She invites viewers to engage in conversations about the importance of peace and dialogue in conflict resolution. Her work serves as a reminder that while the scars of war are evident, they can be healed through stories of resistance and remembrance. Meanwhile, Chinze Ojobo is known for her impactful work addressing social issues. She holds a degree in Fine & Applied Arts from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and has furthered her education in Art Curating and Art Marketing at Sotheby’s Art Institute. With over 76 exhibitions across global cities such as New York, London, and Paris, Chinze’s artistic journey began at age three when she created her first sculptures.
Her work, characterized by detail, rich textures, and vibrant colors, often incorporates jute, acrylics, and traditional fabrics, reflecting her commitment to social advocacy. Chinze has facilitated workshops for young artists and co-founded the Pan African Institute of Creative Art to support aspiring talents.
