Local artist to have Cumbrian landscape work exhibited in London

Artist, Sijoy Jose Kurisingal, is to have his paintings of Borrowdale Surprise Viewpoint and Bassenthwaite Lake exhibited at the Holy Art Gallery in London from October 11 to October 19.

The artworks which are to be displayed in London are a reflection of the artist’s ‘deep connection’ to Cumbria.

“From an early age, art has been my constant companion,” said Sijoy.

“My journey into the world of art was profoundly influenced at 23 when I encountered a mesmerizing painting by an unknown artist.

“This pivotal moment led me to embrace the beauty of nature through my initial focus on landscape painting.

“However, it was the exploration of colour that truly became the essence of my artistic identity.

“This evolution has been a profound journey of self-discovery, pushing the boundaries of my creativity.

Eager to explore diverse artistic forms, I ventured into clays, pebbles, wood carvings, wire art, and metal sculpture.

“Each medium provided a unique avenue for expression, enriching my artistic vocabulary.

“Currently, my primary focus is on oil paintings and metal sculptures, where I blend traditional techniques with innovative approaches.

“Additionally, my lifelong fascination with murals continues to inspire me, and I am eager to delve deeper into this captivating art form.

“My artistic journey is ongoing, a dynamic process of growth and exploration. I am excited to see how my work will continue to evolve and resonate with viewers, inviting them to join me in experiencing the world through a vibrant and ever-changing lens.”
